Photo order process
Please note: I am redoing my sports
photo gallery this year with something a little faster.
The info on this page will most surely change.
After a one botched order and one ugly one, I decided I
could do a far better job printing at home than the professional
photo lab I was using. The lab farmed out the actual
printing chores to a third party, and I was not happy with
the amount of control that gave me. Printing at home
allows me to ship you a photo I've personally seen and and
the price is also a little cheaper.
As always, these photos are for
personal use only. Commerical use requires written
permission from the University of Iowa.
I have chosen to use Epson Luster or Ilford Smooth Pearl
archival quality papers and can print up to 17x22 inches.
I print on a Canon imagePROGRAF iPF5000 professional photo
printer or an Epson R1800. The prints made by these
printers should last at least 64 years assuming proper storage
and handling.
Cropping
Please be aware that I
will choose at my discretion to crop a photo to match the
paper size or print the photo without cropping even if it
does not fill the entire paper. Most
of the time I will recrop the photo to fit the paper, but
sometimes it is not possible.
Examples of cropping:
